for me it tuned from a gental ride to a training ride, sat in the craft centre coffee shop by my self with a bit of cake going down very nicely andI decided to go for Hay Bluff - made it up there with no problem of ice or snow (was very nice to see the bluff, cats back and all them mountains in white snow), came down onto the aber road and stuck behind farmer giles in his sunday trip to see the sheep doing 15 - 18mph and was on welsh smooth roads!! Why did he have to spoit it for me. Over took him in end and then crawled back to the rents gaff- clocked 53 miles and was frozen, muddy and off now to rest the legs as are burning. 9am at steels, a mixture of wheelers, tri club and CoB collected into 1 group, about 12 or 15 in all. From our side Ross, Tims X2, Martin from Bodenham with Mrs Martin and Paula[Luke babysitting?]. Did I miss anyone?. Chris Hughes decided not to do the planned Tumble route , but opted for the much shorter Trumpet , Alps Fownhope route. Before long I did a very unsocible thing and peeled off, and had a very easy relaxing ride via Newent,Highleadon,Staunton, Hollybush,Bishops Frome.67 miles.17mph at 6 degC. Did battle commence in the Alps? I wonder.... |

Yes robin a fair pace with a few lumps-although not like last weeks ride, you forgot to say there was a head wind all the way round !.Extra 6 miles for me in the legs.trust its enough to give mr langdon a reasonable work out in our two up TT.better sort a bike out and some of those sticks on the handlebars-whats all that about ? Any of the gang go out at 9.00am from steels ? |

Just Captain B, Ned P and myself who meet up for the 11am Ride from Sutton. Clive had done a bit of walking along his lane on the way over dodging the ice patches and the idea was to do something that didn't involve ice skating. It was lovely and sunny over at Sutton and off we went towards Bodenham, Leominster and out on the Richards Castle road and took the turning to Yarpole and through to Lucton, Mortimers Cross, Shobdon, Lyonshall, Sarnsfield, Norton Cannon, Yazor, Credenhill, Stretton Sugwas, Roman Road where Ned branched off whilst Captain B and myself headed up the Worcester Road homeward bound. Taking turns on the front all the way round we had a real good ride, nice to see a bit of sunshine, I clocked 80Km (50 miles) and we averaged a respectable 19mph. Well done guys I enjoyed that. Bye for now, Big Ring |

Also another option on offer as well. Captain B and myself will be out a bit later and if anyone fancies meeting us outside The Golden Cross Pub in Sutton St Nicholas at 11am we'll go for a ride somewhere. Bye for now. Robin |

Hi Tom, Just thought !, could you contact George and inform him we've cancelled. Not sure what the Wheelers were planning tomorrow, could be ice skating. I'll see what it's like in the morning and maybe venture out a bit later on, may post something on the forum a couple of hours beforehand if anyone's interested. Bye for now, Rob |

Hi Ray, Well done on your recce and glad you stayed upright, yes it's a good flowing route with nothing too drastic but at the same time interesting and challenging enough. We ran this route this time last year and it seemed to go down well. The weather since Christmas has been a real pain and has messed up so many of our rides. Such a shame about this weekend but the last thing we want is to run an event in bad conditions and ending up with people injured. Hope to meet you soon in person, Bye for now, Robin |

Robin, Good decision. I couldn't make it on Sunday, so having a day off on Friday I decided to do a solo run. Despite being a beautiful day, the section@32-33miles (A449) and through to Holme Lacy was very icy in places. How Caple to Kings Caple, Hoarwithy and Ballingham particularly so. Almost impossible to avoid some nasty potholes too! Glad I didn't use my best bike! BTW very nice route! Forgot to mention- the road was closed at Mordiford Ray (new poster) Edited on 20th February 2010 06:14 PM

Hi Everyone, It's Saturday Morning and I've just driven into Climb-On-Bikes to see Clive, the roads are covered in a peppering of snow and ice We have both agreed and had to take the unfortuneate decission to cancel the event So, we are very sorry to say we'll have to knock this on the head this weekend, maybe we'll be able to re-schedule this a bit later on in the next month or so providing we can find a convenient slot. Kind Regards, Robin Jones (Climb-On-Bikes CC) Tel 01432 851 817 |

Hi Everyone, Well this one is nearly upon us Helen is on the case with sorting most of the provisions, Clive has sorted the Event insurance, on Saturday Chris E and myself will be putting up the route signage. George Burgess is going to be the man with the camera (remember to smile when you see him on the day). I've got the event leaflets sorted along with the sign-on sheets. Calling all those domestic gods and goddess's who fancy baking something for some hungry cyclists, yes if anybody fancies baking something for us that would be most appreciated (if you cant cook there's always Sainsburys, we wont tell). Sunday morning it's action stations from 9am for signing on, a bit of help here is always appreciated if anybody fancies chipping in here and there with that. We could do with someone 9.30am to 10am for release riders off from the gate in maximum groups of ten. Luke M and Amanda will be there ready with the tea pot etc for us all at the finish. If Phil Doubles is about I expect he'll be up for signing riders back in, he did a great job of this last time. The aim this time is to shut shop at 2pm, we also need some help with collecting the signs later on in the afternoon, maybe a couple of teams of two, I know Tom K has put his name forward but obviously he cant do it on his own. Thats about it really, as they say many hands make light work and if you can help with something please could you make it known. Bye for now, Robin |

Hi Everyone, A bit more info regarding our Event i.e. that George Burgess has kindly agreed to come and do the event photography for us. So on the day if George is pointing the camera at you give him a smile and a friendly wave. Also Event leaflets are now available over the counter from Climb-On-Bikes. Bye for now, Robin Edited on 21st January 2010 04:49 PM

Hi Everyone, Well here's our next Club road ride event i.e. "THE WINTER CHALLENGE RIDE" on Sunday 21st February staged from Climb-On-Bikes. The fully signed route is a sporting 53 mile course where a good level of fitness is required. Signing on is from 9am and the entry fee is £5 (£1 of each entry will be donated to St Michael's Hospice). Having signed on you may start the ride anytime between 9.30am to 10am, it's not a race and we wish everyone a good enjoyable ride. Full details can be found on the cyclosport.org website i.e. listed in the events under the month of February. At the finish back at Climb-On-Bikes there will be refreshments of tea, cofee, cakes etc which are all included in the entry fee. This element will be available until we close shop at 2pm. Please refer to the following MapMyRide link for details of the Event route :- http://www.mapmyride.com/ride/united-kingdom/hereford/240952797519 So pencil this one in your diary and please come along and join in. . The weather is going to be the same tomorrow
on the grounds of safety. It's a real shame with all the work that's gone into this but it would be irresponsible if we went ahead in dangerous conditions and risked peoples safety, secondly considering the conditions we would not be covered by the event insurance if anything did go wrong.
