Me and Gerald on this one.

50 or so miles of hilly and hot racing with some very fit old geezers. 6 laps and 2 longish climbs per lap.

The race itself went off fairly quick and only got faster and faster as small groups went away and the ever diminishing bunch [ by the back door] chased them.

Gerald finally lost his grip on the bunch on the lap 5,s nastiness, but was in good company as a few of the seasons winners packed.

In the end it was about 5 riders away in various groups [ I think ], and a bunch uphill sprint of 8 riders, me at the back suffering cramp. I may have got the numbers wrong as I was hallucinating at this point.

I was just glad it was back down the hill to the HQ.
